Buying for Barcelona!

I have some news that I’ve been SO excited to reveal to my glammies… but OOPS the title did it for me! Yes I am going to Barcelona!

Well actually, I’m moving there! For a whole YEAR!

So without further adieu, I’ll show you some of the “necessary” shopping I’ve been doing. Sorry for the quality of the following pictures, I had to rely on room lighting as sadly it has been a completely dull, grey and wet late-summer here in Glasgow.

Here’s a sneek-peek of my favourite purchases for Españaaa!!!

The first thing I bought was this absolutely gorgeous pair of leggings from Mela Loves London! I first seen them online on New Look but they had ran out of my size when I finally had the cash to buy them – but House of Fraser came to the rescue as they had them in stock. They have a lovely silky feel, I love the paisley print and the green and pink mix! I think they were a steal at around 12 pounds.

I also got some basic black calf-length leggings with an elegant lace trim at the bottom from New Look, they look really nice with these adorable nude patent peep-toes!

These Black HavaianasOMG! I cannot tell you just how comfy these are, perfect for touristy stuff and checking out Barcelona‘s shops for hours upon end. A lot of people might question spending £20 on a pair of plain black flip flops but honestly you get what you pay for and there’s a reason why they are always sold out online at summer time, so many girls love them!

Usually I’m very wary about lacey things, I only own one lace top and that is a loose racerback vest but I have to say this cream lace top from Vero Moda really caught my eye and when I tried it on I was delighted =) Very flattering even for the voluptuous types like me!

I’ve had my eye on this floral playsuit from New Look for a while but finally snapped it up when I saw it on sale for 8 pounds! Can’t say no to a price like that and it’ll get some wear if Barcelona’s heat is any better than Glasgow’s…which I’m sure it is! Love the buttons on this too.

Finally, another pair of shoes which I am suuureee you’ve seen before, again from the cheap and cheerful New Look! The small little gold “studs” on these babies are what first attracted me to these little pumps but I’m not sure how long they’ll last so I plan to keep them away from moisture at all costs. My feet usually take a while to adjust to new look shoes, especially at the heel but these just seem to gel perfectly.

As I’m a pretty err…busty girl, I need to be careful when shopping because I have this dilemna about whether to buy the size that fits my waist but barely makes it over my chest or to buy a bigger size which consequently makes me look bigger. So I was so excited when I found out that the lingerie experts Bravissimo also sell CLOTHES! So after having a look on the Pepperberry website, I picked out a couple of cute blouses. These blouses are made in standard UK clothing sizes BUT also with the option of choosing a bust size too. So I got a 14 super curvy, that should cater to both my waist and chest! The downside to this is that they are quite pricey as they’re basically tailored. They haven’t arrived yet so I’ll update you on the fit and quality!

Naturally, I also bought tonnes of beauty stash for my year long trip! I decided to be brave and splash on bigger versions of my faves, so I’ll do a post on them soon and you can take my word for it that these beauty goodies are the business and have The Glam Guide’s seal of approval!

Next time glammies n’ glamettes!

All Glam Things Come To Those Who Turn 20!

Hey all! Haven’t posted in a while, been lots going on! I had my birthday, which can only mean a run down of the glamorous birthday makeup, nails and nuevas cosas!!!

Glamorous Smokey Eyes

This was my “trial” session for my birthday makeup which was created by using MAC’s Carbon up to the crease, blending out with Mulch and a little Patina. Inglot’s pearl was used as an under eyebrow highlight. Apologies for the state of my brows – waxing commenced the next morning…when I got this beauty of a manicure!

Glamorous Birthday Nails

Originally opting for a classic French, I succumbed to the offering of glitter tips. Pretty glad I did. If I got sick of them I knew they could be painted over, provided an acetone-free remover is used. It can be pretty hard to type on my little Blackberry buttons (yes, I am still on the BB side where it is lonely and cold) and on the laptop but oh how we have to pay the price for a little glamour sometimes!

All of the gifts were amazingly gorgeous, including the Lush products at the front which smelt incredibly delectable. Tiny Hands, the hand shaped bar at the front, melts into a dreamy hand lotion that nourishes your skin in vanilla, chamomile and marigold. In the middle is a “Butterball” bath bomb and on the right hand side is a shower melt. I love the smell that permeates pretty much every street in the country that contains a Lush store. Definitely puts you in the mood to get clean 😉

If any of you have been lucky enough to find a Gilly Hicks store I’m sure you’ll remember the exotic holiday and island theme that permeates the store (as is common in the Abercrombie family, with Hollister as prime example) and the range of fragrances. Pointed Piper is a gorgeous holiday scent that really reminds me of “Island Kiss” from Escada. Give it a few minutes to develop. On first spray it can be a bit overpowering but it gradually folds out into light pleasant wafts of sunshine. Makes me look forward to leaving Winter behind!

In keeping with the Abercrombie theme, I bought this scrumptiously scented Malibu Beach body lotion from Hollister with my birthday money. It’s one of the sweeter lotions in the range. It basically has that gorgeous nutty, warm smell of cocoa butter BUT without the thickness to it – it literally sinks in to your skin instantly and leaves a healthy sheen and once its sunk in there is a distinct trace of a coconut scent. Delicious!

I picked up a lovely new addition to my lipstick collection – MAC’s Pretty Please, a sheer cheerful nude with a light pink finish.

In the aim of looking more groomed (yes the eyebrow and nail combo inspired me) I purchased a brow tinting kit from Benefit which contains a brown paste and powder to build coverage on the brow and make it look darker and neater. This is makeup, not permanent. I think it made a nice difference. I did look more put together in a less obvious way and I would recommend it but not the small brushes they supply if you need more control.

The Dior Mascara does a fine job of volumising and I enjoy using the wand. However I’d still prefer to buy a cheaper mascara given the choice… so not too much to comment on there. Dior certainly doesn’t provide the finest performance in high-end cosmetics and I would much rather recommend Lancome or Clinique.

In my own experience Maybelline is the best option mascara-wise for my own lashes as they need a mascara that prides itself on volumising and thickening properties. Everyone’s lashes are different so you do need to list and cross off the mighty task of finding the one that works for you from your to-do list. That’s the thing with makeup. You can’t confidently recommend one thing to absolutely everyone. Perhaps only those who have your own ‘diagnosis’ will find your holy grail product useful. Even then, with the same problem, many need further small adjustments to the solution.

My mother gave me this stunning pink bracelet from Lime Blue Diamonds – I have to admit I’m almost scared to wear it as it’s so pristine and glistens beautifully. She also presented me with a sleek, patent purse from Ted Baker which was great as the zip on my last wallet, which had been imported all the way from Korea, had broken and trying to open it with these nails was quickly becoming a nightmare!

Hope whenever your next birthday may be, you are blessed with lots of lovely things and amazing people around you! And Happy Birthday to all fellow Capricorns!

Lots of Love,

Stephanie xx

The Glamorous Life – at Westfield!

Just so you know, this is what I have been buying as of late.

I’m feeling a bit of purple fever at the moment – possibly due to the fact I’m obsessed with leopard print and purple goes effortlessly. Barry M is the best nail polish for value and quality – above are shades 308 Berry and 303 Bright Purple, followed by a gorgeous glitzy lilac shade that I couldn’t resist from a sexy new Italian makeup store called KIKO in Westfield.

I am in love with this shop as I couldn’t believe the vast range of shades and finishes – every colour, shade and tone under the sun was in this shop and they had the friendliest girls working there. I almost bought bright orange and zesty lemon shades too but felt I would be going too far in terms of nail purchases.

The scarf is from New Look.

Next purchased was this bag from House of Fraser. I adore it, it was only 29 pounds, it’s called the Milly tote from a brand called Therapy. I figured it would be cute to carry my uni books around in, I’m happy as it adds to the overkill of my vast unnecessary collection of leopard print pieces.

I would lie and say I purchased the Swarovski fragrance on the left, but my boyfriend did. He said he wouldn’t have me wearing anything else. So there we go, a nice fragrance that men like…I adore the scent of The Body Shop’s Morrocan Rose Body Butter – DEVINE. You only need a tiny amount as it’s so rich and nourshising. Buy. I bought the cute bird necklace from Toppyshoppy, it was on sale. The earrings are from Warehouse – they look so much more expensive than a mere 8 quid! The scarf on the right was actually not bought in Westfield but I found it at a car boot sale and loved it. And the leopard print is a dress from H&M.

I have to say this whole concept of shopping and blogging is really taking it’s toll on me…;-)
